ADEK vitamins
Dose: 1 ml PO |
Frequency: Q Day |
Indications: This preparation was formulated for use in infants with fat malabsorption as might occur in infants with cholestasis.. See review of vitamin requirements in low birth weight infants. The increased levels of Vitamins A, D, E, and K were used to provide adequate intakes for infants with poor fat absorption. The form of Vitamin E used is water soluble so that bile salt activity is not needed for absorption. The preparation is free of alcohol, dyes, and artificial sweeteners. This preparation needs to be supplemented with a source of iron (ferrous sulfate) in most patients. |
